Sects in Islam
Bismillahirahmanirraheem,
Sectarianism in İslam means groups of muslims that incorporate innovation into their teaching and practices that takes them out of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama'at.
The Prophet pbuh said “My Ummah will split into 73 sects, one of which will be guided, the main body.” ( Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’at) People of the Sunnah )
The majority of Muslims İ.e Ahlus Sunnah adhere to the 4 madhabs in Fiqh but mainly the Hanafi school of İslam (Which is most correct) and the Maturidi (More correct than Ash’ari) or Ash’ari school in Kalam, and if one testifies belief in the Shahada, 5 pillars of Islam and articles of faith & affirms the wassiyyah of Abu Hanifa RA then he is considered Ahlus Sunnah (people of the sunnah - the right group).
The Prophet pbuh said:
"Stay away from sects even if you have to eat from the roots of trees until death overcomes you."
“Whoever accomodates an innovator will be cursed by Allah.”
“Whoever respects an innovator has helped to destroy the religion.”
If one attains a good knowledge of Islam he or she can identify a sect and avoid them in sh Allah.
Rasulallah saw said “I have left behind 2 things the Qur’an and my Sunnah, whoever follows them will never go astray.”
May Allah correct those of these groups in existence today and protect the main body of muslims, Amin.
These are some of the reported sects to beware of in the Islamic world, some are more guilty than others of innovation but all of these groups have major issues in aqida, some Muslims ignorantly are a part of these communities without knowing the inner realities of the group they ascribe to, it is best to listen to Allahs advice and not ascribe to anything other than the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’a as Allah advises us not to make sects in the Qur’an.
Some of these groups are:
Shia (They insult the sahaba RA and slander Aisha RA)
Alevi (Deny most of İslam yet claim to love Ali RA)
Ahmadiyyah
Kharijites
Khawarij
Mu’tazilla
Jabariyyah
Hashwiyyah
Jahmiyyah
Qadiriyya
Falasifa
Barelvi (Ahmad Raza Khan their hero says evil things about the prophets wives RA and teaches unislamic knowledge) - Heirachy have these beliefs, perhaps not general populous.
Deobandi (Establishement believe things way outside of İslamic belief) - Heirachy hold these beliefs, perhaps not general populous.
Feto (Cult with twisted beliefs about islam and their leader that are little to do with the religion)
Most Sufi Tariqats (Most today are innovating in the religion and some are commiting major shirk and kufr, beware of people who say they are sufi and Judge according to Qur’an and Sunnah)
Wahhabis (Anthropomorphic belief about Allah & incorrect understanding of what constitutes kufr.)
Salafis (Anthropomorphic belief about Allah and incorrect view of who is a Muslim)
It is important to note that some people are born and raised into these communities and may be innocent, this is directed mainly at the admin of these groups and those of their communities who don’t know must be warned and rebuked, if they do not listen then keep away.
